Vacancy for Pharmacy Technician
We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician. The position is full time. Working hours will be 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday. The Rate of pay will be negotiable depending on experience. Hopwoods is a busy community pharmacy and we are looking for someone with experience of the pharmacy industry. We are part of a loyal community, with long-standing customers. There will be a hand-over/mentoring period and on-going support. Essential skills and knowledge The candidate is expected to have an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services. A Smoking Cessation qualification is desirable but not essential. The candidate will also have experience in: To carry out final checking of dispensed items according to the accuracy checking Standard Operating Procedures and provide assistance to pharmacy personnel when necessary. To supervise and perform duties associated with the control and management of pharmacy systems and prescription dispensing. To closely supervise the work of Pharmacy Technicians and dispensary team to ensure they are able to perform their duties efficiently and correctly. To maintain and analyse a record/portfolio of errors detected in preparation for re-accreditation every two years. To select, label, compound and dispense pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with all legal requirements. To ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients. To identify medicine related problems or queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist. To answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines, where it is within their competence. To accurately maintain Patient Medication Records (PMR) to ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements. To receive stock in accordance with SOPs To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines. To respond to verbal and face-to-face queries of a routine pharmaceutical nature from patients or their representatives and to refer queries to the pharmacist when appropriate. To liaise with other healthcare professionals to assist in the continuity of patient care across primary and secondary care. To assist with service provision to care homes including the preparation of Monitored Dosage Systems. To assist with the engagement of patients onto advanced services and assist with the provision of those services where appropriate. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical matters by complying with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. To assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by the pharmacist. Personal specification: Qualified to level 3 NVQ, BTEC or Diploma in pharmacy service skills and pharmaceutical science. Registered with GPhC and compliant with standards for pharmacy practice. Committed to CPD and can show evidence of participation. Good attention to detail and high levels of concentration. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Excellent team working skills. High level of IT literacy and numeracy. Enthusiastic, self-confident and self-motivated Show initiative Ability to lead, motivate and train The successful candidate will be required to start as soon as possible.
