The most common symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are recent onset of:
  • New continuous cough and/or
  • High temperature
  • loss or change to your sense of smell or taste  

For most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness If you have coronavirus symptoms:
  • Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
  • You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home
  • Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you're staying at home
  • Plan ahead and ask others for help to ensure that you can successfully stay at home and consider what can be done for vulnerable people in the household
  • Ask your employer, friends and family to help you to get the things you need to stay at home
  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, each time using soap and water, or use hand sanitiser
  • If you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home, or your condition gets worse, or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days, then use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999

Stay at Home
  • If you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus illness (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started. (See ending isolation section below for more information)
  • If you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill
  • It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • For anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period. (See ending isolation section below for more information
  • If you can, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period
  • If you cannot move vulnerable people out of your home, stay away from them as much as possible

Vacancy for Pharmacy Technician
We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician. The position is full time. Working hours will be 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday. The Rate of pay will be negotiable depending on experience. Hopwoods is a busy community pharmacy and we are looking for someone with experience of the pharmacy industry. We are part of a loyal community, with long-standing customers. There will be a hand-over/mentoring period and on-going support. Essential skills and knowledge The candidate is expected to have an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services. A Smoking Cessation qualification is desirable but not essential. The candidate will also have experience in: To carry out final checking of dispensed items according to the accuracy checking Standard Operating Procedures and provide assistance to pharmacy personnel when necessary. To supervise and perform duties associated with the control and management of pharmacy systems and prescription dispensing. To closely supervise the work of Pharmacy Technicians and dispensary team to ensure they are able to perform their duties efficiently and correctly. To maintain and analyse a record/portfolio of errors detected in preparation for re-accreditation every two years. To select, label, compound and dispense pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with all legal requirements. To ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients. To identify medicine related problems or queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist. To answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines, where it is within their competence. To accurately maintain Patient Medication Records (PMR) to ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements. To receive stock in accordance with SOPs To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines. To respond to verbal and face-to-face queries of a routine pharmaceutical nature from patients or their representatives and to refer queries to the pharmacist when appropriate. To liaise with other healthcare professionals to assist in the continuity of patient care across primary and secondary care. To assist with service provision to care homes including the preparation of Monitored Dosage Systems. To assist with the engagement of patients onto advanced services and assist with the provision of those services where appropriate. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical matters by complying with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. To assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by the pharmacist. Personal specification: Qualified to level 3 NVQ, BTEC or Diploma in pharmacy service skills and pharmaceutical science. Registered with GPhC and compliant with standards for pharmacy practice. Committed to CPD and can show evidence of participation. Good attention to detail and high levels of concentration. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Excellent team working skills. High level of IT literacy and numeracy.
