Private Hayfever & Allergy Service in Cardiff
Struggling with Persistent Hayfever?
If standard over-the-counter treatments are no longer managing your symptoms, Hopwoods Pharmacy provides an Allergy Consultation Service.
Led by our Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, this service is designed for patients with severe seasonal allergic rhinitis (Hayfever) who require a deeper clinical review and specialist treatment to manage debilitating symptoms that impact their work, sleep, and quality of life.
What Happens During Your Consultation?
Our goal is to help you find a management plan that works. During your 20-minute private appointment, our prescribing pharmacist will:
Clinical History Review: Conduct a thorough assessment of your allergy history and current symptom severity.
Treatment Audit: Review the effectiveness of treatments you have already tried (such as Fexofenadine, Mometasone, or dual-action therapies).
Medical Screening: Check for any underlying health conditions or contraindications that may affect your treatment options.
Personalised Planning: Discuss advanced management options and, where clinically appropriate, provide specialist treatment delivered by the pharmacist.
Please Note: The outcome of the consultation is based on clinical need. A specific medication or intervention is not guaranteed; the pharmacist will only prescribe a treatment if it is safe and appropriate for you.
Who Is This Service For?
This consultation is intended for adults who:
Have tried multiple standard treatments without adequate relief.
Experience symptoms that significantly impair daily function.
Seek a professional clinical assessment to explore advanced hayfever management
Alternative Management Options
As part of our commitment to your health, we will always discuss the full range of options available, including:
Prescription-strength antihistamines and combination nasal sprays.
Specialist eye drops.
Lifestyle and allergen-avoidance strategies.
Referrals to NHS pathways or GP services where necessary.
What else do we offer?
We are in partnership with York Laboratories and offer their Food and Environmental Sensitivity Test for £139. A food allergy test measures IgE antibodies, which are associated with immediate, potentially severe allergic response to different allergens. Each kit uses a simple finger-prick blood sample that you can collect at home, or we can take the sample for you in the pharmacy and post it to the laboratory on your behalf. How to Book
We recommend pre-booking your assessment during the peak pollen season (April–August).
